The population of aging adults with mobility limitations continues to grow. People today live much longer lives than ever before. As people age, they often struggle with a variety of different diagnoses that can affect their ability to sit functionally and the ability to maintain independent mobility. This course will address what these individuals can qualify for in regards to mobility equipment, when to consider what type of mobility equipment, how best to address the individuals seating needs and when to use off the shelf options vs custom seating options.
At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:
Discuss the mobility algorithm and how to utilize it with individuals.
Analyze when mechanical positioning is appropriate for the adult consumer.
Differentiate between off the shelf seating equipment and custom
Assess when custom seating is needed over off-the-shelf seating.

Jay Doherty, OTR, ATP/SMS Director of Clinical Education Jay has 26 years of experience working in the field of assistive technology with a concentration on complex rehab. Jay has earned his ATP and SMS certifications through RESNA. Throughout his career he has worked in both Rehabilitation and assistive technology environments with both adults and children. Jay’s current role with Quantum Rehab is to provide direction and leadership to the Quantum field sales team in the areas of facility development and to grow business within the rehab community. In addition, he develops and presents a variety of educational courses and ensures the Quantum Rehab field sales staff is educated on products and their benefits.
