Summary:

The NPL Insurance Liaison will reports to the Vice President of Sales. This individual is chartered with leading the appeals process for disputing insurance denials for our customers/patients.  This involves working with the sales team to compile the information to dispute the insurance company’s claim of an inaccurate request for authorization, or that the patient is not eligible for a custom wheelchair.

 

The ideal Liaison candidate is experienced with long term care facility operations, patient physical therapy and mobility needs, as well as having a familiarity with the general requirements insurance companies use to determine patient eligibility for custom wheelchairs.  The successful candidate will be an excellent leader, a great communicator, and adept at interacting with people ranging from lower-level staff to medical professionals, to senior executives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Key Member of the Sales Team.

  • When prior authorizations for a custom wheelchair are denied, takes the lead to gather relevant information from the salesperson and other stakeholders that can be used to appeal the denial

  • Leads the effort to overturn denials.

  • Applies learnings from interactions with the insurance companies to initiate changes in internal processes and documentation requirements to improve the chances of acquiring authorizations in the future.

  • Acts as primary contact for Sales Management to understand where we stand at any given times on denials.

  • Works with the CEO and other executives to drive the company’s strategic and financial planning process.

  • Develops tools and systems to provide the leadership team with timely, critical statuses of claims denials. and operational information regarding company performance compared to strategic.

  • Analyzes denial trends and communicates recommendations to the Prior Authorization team.

  • Undertakes various projects as requested by management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy or related field. 

  • Articulate, confident communicator

  • Strong attention to details

  • Ability to gather relevant information, organize it into a compelling story, and represent the patient’s interests in communicating with the insurance company.

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid laws

  • Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to plan and execute strategies based on the analysis results.

  • Computer savvy

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and people skills.

  • Experience in a Medical products or service business a strong plus.
