Summary:

The Wheelchair Assembly and Service Technician is responsible for assembling custom configured wheelchairs in our facility in Strongsville, OH, and/or travelling to our satellite buildings and various customer sites throughout NE Ohio.  Company vehicles will be provided if travelling for company business. 

Assembly and Service/Repair work will involve following the company’s assembly and service processes and adhering to defined standards of quality and productivity.  In addition, to working with internal staff, this role will directly interact with our customers and various other stakeholders such as physical therapists, facility staff and medical professionals.  In all cases the technician is expected to provide the highest level of professionalism and superior repair experience. The Service Technician is also responsible for maintaining accurate logs of service completed and adheres to company reporting policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assembles equipment following the company’s standards of quality and productivity.

  • Tests, diagnoses, and services client-owned wheelchairs in the field, mainly in long-term care facilities & patient homes.

  • Uses company-provided service management software to accurately record work and parts used to complete each job. 

  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.

  • Delivers and picks up equipment, assures that all documentation is complete and accurate with proper signatures obtained. Relays any customer comments or concerns about products or services to Operations Leader or Service Manager.

  • Trains/educates customers and caregivers in the proper use, care, and safety of equipment purchased.  Performs minor fitting and adjustments of equipment if required.

  • Maintains NPL fleet vehicles in clean, organized, and safe operating condition.   Utilizes company fleet management software to complete daily checklists as required.

  • Meets all set productivity and performance standards.

  • Rehabilitates equipment as necessary, both in the field and at the shop.

  • Follows all safety procedures as required.

  • Consistently delivers incredible customer service experiences by offering knowledge, advice, and answering questions and concerns.

Field Service Technician Characteristics:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and capabilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Three (3) years of experience in assembly or repair of mechanical products

  • Computer literate

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Teams especially)

  • Understanding of fundamentals of computer operations

  • Exceptional critical thinking, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities

  • Superior interpersonal communication and ability to build relationships quickly

  • Results driven

  • Personal and professional behaviors in alignment with NPL Core Values

  • Ability to think and learn quickly
