Summary:

The Wheelchair Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling custom configured wheelchairs in our facility in Strongsville, OH. Each chair is assembled and configured for each unique customer. In addition to working with our operations staff, this role will directly interact with our sales and purchasing departments from time to time. In all cases the technician is expected to provide the highest level of professionalism and a superior experience with our internal staff.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assembles each wheelchair per the configuration specified by the salesperson and following NPL's assembly processes and standards of quality.

  • Uses company provided management software to accurately track wheelchairs, specialized parts, and upcoming work, as well as finished goods.

  • Tests wheelchairs for quality and performance.

  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.

  • Communicates with the sales teams regarding possible modifications to the original wheelchair configuration.

  • Captures manufacturers quality issues for relay back to the manufacturer’s quality department.

  • Trains/educates NPL staff on the fundamentals of Wheelchair components and interoperability between manufacturers.

  • Meets all set productivity and performance standards.

  • Follows all safety procedures as required.

  • Consistently delivers incredible customer service experiences to NPL by offering knowledge, advice, and answering questions and concerns.

Field Service Technician Characteristics:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and capabilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Three (3) years of experience in assembly or repair of mechanical products

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Teams especially)

  • Understanding of fundamentals of computer operations

  • Exceptional critical thinking, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities

  • Superior interpersonal communication and ability to build relationships quickly

  • Strong work ethic

  • Personal and professional behaviors in alignment with NPL Core Values

  • Ability to think and learn quickly

  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and experience

  • Competency with hand tools and power tools

  • Previous warehouse/manufacturing experience preferred
